Chair day project
Here I have been exploring using found objects and recycling them back into useable items and or, pieces of art.
My process-
I am to find two discarded or broken chairs found out in the street in my local area.
On a set day, I get to work and devise a way on how to merge the two chairs together.
Using my vast collection of tools and my bedroom as a workshop, I record the process of myself recreating the chair design using the parts from the found chairs.
I plan to create five chair designs. The content gathered will be used ti various ways. Film/ motion, photographic, print and physical installation.

Amplifier Repair –
Short motion piece
Part of an ongoing project-
For the final stage of university, I am working on the subject of repair. So I decided to do a job that needed doing, which was- replace the power cable on an old 1980s amplifier of mine. The basis of the task was quite simple, but I wanted to focus on various interesting parts of the job. Such as, the intricate soldering on the cables, and the other processes that happen when working on a job such as this. So I included making coffee. And added in the intervals of when I drank it for example. |
Voluntary work @ Happytat- {First project}
First furniture project at Happytat-
I started working an old tatty white chest of drawers, probably 1940s-50s, which was in need of a complete restyle and repaint. I thought it was an excellent project to get my teeth into and show the people at Happytat my abilities.
The idea was to completely restore this chest of drawers and add a great new colour scheme to it, in a two-tone retro look, consisting of colours of the 1960s, a dark green and cream.
14th Feb-
I started with the work I could get on with; rubbing down with sand paper. I made it my objective to sand down the piece of furniture in preparation for the next day, so I could continue with the restoration and finally, painting. There were parts on the drawers that needed gluing and filling, so fortunately Happytat had a few things that enabled me to complete that job, wood-filler and wood-glue.
